KOMU 8 News Hires New Evening Co-Anchor
COLUMBIA, MO – KOMU 8 News is pleased to announce the hiring of Brittany Pieper as evening co-anchor. Beginning March 4, Pieper will join Angie Bailey for KOMU 8 News at Five and Jim Riek for KOMU 8 News at Six and Ten as well as KOMU 8 News at Nine on Mid-Missouri's CW. Pieper comes to KOMU 8 News from KSLA in Shreveport, La., where she is an anchor and reporter covering education. Previously, she worked as a reporter, anchor and producer at KCBD in Lubbock, Texas. “We're thrilled about the addition of another accomplished journalist to our news team,” KOMU 8 General Manager Marty Siddall said. “Brittany stood out to us because of her exceptional experience and passion for providing comprehensive coverage of the issues that are important to viewers.” Pieper is a graduate of the University of Missouri, where she earned degrees in journalism and political science. She got her start in broadcast news at KOMU 8 as a student reporter and anchor. “We knew Brittany to be a terrific journalist when she worked with us before. So when the opportunity came to bring her back to work with us again, I jumped at the chance,” KOMU 8 News Director Stacey Woelfel said. “She has all the skills Mid-Missouri wants in a news anchor –intelligence, a passion for news and the ability to communicate in a way people will love.” Pieper, a native of Plano, Texas, is passionate about education and spends time in Shreveport schools helping students learn to read. KOMU 8 is an auxiliary enterprise of the University of Missouri and is expected to generate all revenues for station operations. Its operations and investments in broadcast technology are funded entirely by advertising and retransmission revenues. The station receives no funding from the university or state.
