Over 500 people were served chili during a cold blustery snowy Wednesday. The annual Chili Day was held in the basement of the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
"Chili Day was a huge success. Attendance was definitely up this year. The community really came out in support of the youth of Boonville and Kiwanis," said Kiwanis member Lance Reynolds.
Reynolds said extra tables had to be set up to accommodate the growing crowd around noon while lines of people waited to get their bowl of chili. Kiwanis members were busy serving chili, getting drinks and washing dishes. Pie was served as the dessert.
While chili was being served, individuals were able to bid on silent auction items.
"We had great support from the businesses of the community that donated items to our silent auction. We had close to twice as many items in our silent auction this year. Lots of patrons supported us and bid on items," Reynolds said.
The bids of the silent auction have not been counted yet. Reynolds said this should be done in the next couple days.
Reynolds wishs to thank the community, businesses and individuals for their support and help.
