  • At what state historic site can you walk through a 31 room, 12,000 square foot mansion built atop two natural caves by a Sedalia Lawyer? This was one of the 64 questions asked to participants at the Sixth Annual Cooper County Historical Society Trivia Night Saturday night. The night began with a light dinner followed by trivia questions and popcorn.
Around 20 teams composed of at least eight members each participated in the event with Paul Davis as the master of ceremonies. The judges panel consisted of Earl and Kharma Haller, Dawn Taylor, Philip Bechtold and Charlotte King.
Davis introduced each round of questions as each team wrote answers on a piece of paper. Topics included: 'From the Smithsonian', Who's That?', 'Name that War', and a whole section on Peter Rabbit to name a few.
Taylor said her interest in having a Peter Rabbit topic came while she and her son Carter were reading the book.
Throughout the evening teams were updated on the standings of the first through third place teams.
A team named 'Charlie's Angels' won overall and received items donated by area businesses.
An array of items were up for auction at the silent auction, from gift certificates to small items. Taylor said she was pleased with how the auction went.
"We got a lot of good donations this year," Taylor said.
The money raised by the event will be used to help fund the Cooper County Historical Society Research Center in Pilot Grove.
"I think the evening went very well," Bechtold said.
Funds raised from the event have not been fully counted yet. The Seventh Annual Trivia Night is scheduled for a day next January.
