Boonville city workers were busy Monday morning removing a number of trees downtown. The trees were removed because they were considered in poor condition after the city performed a comprehensive overview of the trees.
Boonville Parks Director Gary Nauman said at the city council meeting last Tuesday the city would be removing a number of trees, which were damaged or were just too big. Many of the trees, according to Nauman, are virtually out growing their container they were planted in. He said the trees are suffering from lack of water as well.
The future of the vacant tree sites will include new landscaping with native and annual flowers.
