The Ss. Peter & Paul boys fifth-sixth grade basketball team outscored Bunceton 9-4 in the first quarter and never looked back, beating the Dragons 43-17 Tuesday night in Boonville.
The Warriors led Bunceton 22-8 at the half and 29-12 after three quarters of play. Meanwhile, in the final period, Ss. Peter & Paul outscored Bunceton 14-5 to win the game by 26.
Ss. Peter & Paul coach Kevin Lang said he and coach Brownfield were extremely happy with the team’s effort. “We were a little shorthanded due to sickness but the boys played well in their first game,” Lang said. “The boys have been overwhelmed with new offensive and defensive sets over the past couple weeks. They have had a lot to learn in a short time and will continue to improve.”
Zack Watring had the game-high for Ss. Peter & Paul with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Reece Lang finished the game with 13 points, three assists, two rebounds, one steal and one blocked shot while Kellen Brownfield added 12 points, six steals and one rebound, Sam Esser with four points, two steals, one rebound and one assist and Landon Weaver with three rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot.
