Boonville Kiwanis to hold annual Chili Day
The Boonville Kiwanis club will hold their annual Chili Day on Wednesday, January 30 at the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church basement. The first dinner shift will be 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The second shift will begin at 4:30 p.m. and last until 7 p.m. Homemade pies will be served as dessert. In addition to serving chili, a silent auction will be held with proceeds benefitting the children of Boonville. “Chili Day is our big fundraiser. All the food is homemade and there are many silent auction items provided by local businesses to help raise money,” said Kiwanis member Josh Snoddy. Among the silent auction donations are two tickets to the Shepherd of the Hills near Branson, one free night at a Drury Inn Hotel, two one-day admission tickets to Silver Dollar City, two tickets to a show at the Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre, two infield seats at a game of the Kansas City Royals and an autographed mini helmet from the St. Louis Rams. According to a press release, the club expects to raise approximately $5,000 this year. Funds are raised from local individuals and businesses that donate silent auction items and individuals buying tickets. Tickets are available for purchase in advance from any Boonville Kiwanis Club member and at the door during lunch or dinner. Last year the club served close to 500 meals at lunch and dinner.
