The Boonville Pirates eighth grade traveling team took care of business in more ways than one on Saturday by sweeping Hallsville in two games by the scores of 50-19 and 55-24.
In the first game against Hallsville, the Pirates led 25-7 at the half and 40-10 after three quarters of play. Meanwhile, in the fourth quarter, Boonville outscored Hallsville 10-9 to win the game by 31.
Alec Adair had the game-high for Boonville with 19 points while Riley Lang chipped in 18, Zach Weber and Weston Fahrenbrink each with four, Ryan Sprigg with three and Makiah Waibel with two.
Meanwhile, in the second half, Boonville again got off to a great start while leading Hallsville 16-0 after one, 38-7 at the half and 47-18 after three quarters of play.
Boonville coach Kevin Lang said this was the first time the boys have played together in a couple of years. “I was very happy with their effort,” Lang said. “What we lack in height we make up for in aggressive defense and pushing the ball down the court on offense,” Lang said. “We were also knocking down our outside shots.”
Riley Lang had the game-high for Boonville with 20 points while Alec Adair chipped in 14, Ryan Sprigg eight, Zach Weber six and Makiah Waibel with five.
