Boonville to ring in 2013 with celebration
Many people around the area will bring in the new year with hope, prayers and happiness. Boonville will bring in the new year with celebration. Some may have a party with family and friends or local residents may prefer to spend the evening at a business around Boonville offering something more special than they usually do. The Boonville Area Chamber will host a couple of events on New Year's Eve. These events will include good food along with music by local musician Tanner Bechtel who will be performing at Cooper's Oak Winery. The evening will begin with dinner at the Pirate's Cove restaurant on Ryan Street. Dinner includes a choice of prime rib or surf and turf. Following dinner, everyone is invited to Cooper's Oak Winery for snacks and desserts throughout the evening. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Pirates Cove at 660-882-2277 or by purchasing the tickets at Cooper's Oak Winery or by calling them at 660-882-0111. Tickets for the two locations cost $40 and $20 just for the event at Cooper's Oak Winery. Other events include gatherings at local restaurants. The Settlers Inn located at the Pilot Grove exit off Interstate 70 will host two dinners at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. The restaurant will be serving smoked pork chops and bacon wrapped country glazed chicken breast. Reservations can be made up to the day of by calling 660-882-3125. The Boonville Eagles club located at 708 11th Street will host a steak dinner with music provided by the Hazard County Band. The entire event, which includes the steak dinner and music, will cost $20. The cost of the steak dinner alone is $12. If an individual wants to come just for the music and dancing, the cost is $10. Other events include live music provided at the Frederick Hotel starting at 8 p.m. lasting on up to the New Year with music being performed by the band, Missing Window Trio. A New Year's Eve dance will be held at The Palms located in Boonsboro starting at 8 p.m. lasting until the New Year as well. B&J Bowl, located at 1119 Fourth Street will hold their annual New Year's Eve party with free champagne at midnight along with a DJ playing all varieties of music by request. There is a small cover charge at the door. A number of local bars will also host events catered to the New Year. The Boonville Police Department urges people attending these parties to drive responsibly. They will be cracking down on drunk drivers this New Year's Eve.
