Walther Bridge, west of Boonville on Santa Fe Road, is now open. Western District Cooper County Commissioner Ernie Walther said construction had taken two months which included closing the road for construction. The bridge officially opened Monday, December 10 with a ribbon cutting on Monday, December 17. Walther was surprised that Eastern District Cooper County Commissioner Paul Davis and Southern District Cooper County Commissioner Eddie Brickner decided to name the bridge after him.
Walther said he had been working on getting the bridge replaced for over two years. This included getting land easements so construction could commence. C&C Bridge Company won the bid for the project.
Walther was also amazed from the amount of traffic that Santa Fe Road encounters. He said traffic on the road has been steadily increasing which prompted the new bridge.
