  • Blackwater boys and girls turn back St. Joseph Pilot Grove

  • The Blackwater boys and girls junior high basketball teams won at home Tuesday night by beating St. Joseph Pilot Grove by the scores of 27-26 and 40-18, respectively.
    For the Blackwater boys, Tyler Johnson had 10, Kurt Danner six, Toby Ulmer five, Preston Renfrow four and Donovan Gerke two.
    For St. Joseph Pilot Grove, Brady Rentel finished the game with 11 points, six rebounds, four steals, two blocked shots and one assist while Layne Wessing added six points and one assist, Parker Schuster with five points, nine rebounds, four steals, two blocked shots and one assist, Anderson Twenter with four points, one rebound, one steal, one assist and one blocked shot, Jared Schupp with five rebounds and Kale Day with one rebound.
    In the girl's game, Paige Renfrow had 22 points and Kaitlyn Weekley six.
    For St. Joseph Pilot Grove, Marissa Day tossed in six points along with seven steals, four rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot.
    Celine Dodson chipped in four points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists while Karsyn Kraus added four points and three rebounds, Emily Schupp with four points, two rebounds and one assist and Isabella Heckman with two steals and one rebound.
    Monday's games
    Celine Dodson had 12 points, five steals, three rebounds and two assists, leading the St. Joseph Pilot Grove girls past St. Andrews Monday night in Tipton 38-29.
    Emily Schupp had 11 points, six steals, four rebounds and two assists while Marissa Day added eight points, three rebounds and two assists, Madeline Goehman with four points, one rebound and one assist, Cassie Grandestaff with three points, Karsyn Kraus with 10 rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocked shots and Isabella Heckman with four rebounds and one steal.
    St. Andrews was led by Alyson Brandt with 14.
    The St. Joseph Pilot Grove boys also won against St. Andrews 45-15.
    Brady Rentel had the game-high for the Cougars with 15 points along with seven rebounds, three steals, three assists and three blocked shots. Parker Schuster had a double-double with 12 points, 14 rebounds, two blocked shots and one steal while Anderson Twenter added eight points, four steals, three rebounds and one assist, Jared Schupp with six points, six rebounds and one blocked shot, Layton Streck with three points, three rebounds and one steal, Layne Wessing with one point and one rebound and Kale Day with four rebounds, one steal and one assist.
