A "Sing A Merry Christmas" was the theme of this years Saints Peter and Paul annual Christmas program. The program featured arrangements by preschool through eighth grade students. Principal Alan Lammers said the program has been going on for a long time even before he began as a student in 1972 at the school.
With standing room only at the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church Wednesday night, family and friends got a glimpse of what the students in Linda Burnett's music class have been preparing. Burnett thanked everyone for coming as well before the concert started.
Burnett accompanied the students on piano along with preschool teacher Connie Wilkinson on guitar.
Lammers said the concert has seen an evolution throughout the years from huge dramatic performances with costumes to more bare bones caroling.
"We have hit a happy medium here," Lammers said.
The eighth grade class started the concert with the carol "Deck the Halls," a piece they performed with bells. Once the eighth grade completed their piece, the preschool class performed three carols, including "Jingle Bells."
Each class performed a couple pieces throughout the concert. After about an hour the entire school sang, "We Wish You A Merry Christmas."
Lammers said the concert was well attended, even more so than he thought it would be.
