The Bunceton boys basketball team fell in the opening round of the Northwest of Hughesville Tournament Tuesday night against No. 2 Green Ridge by a score of 61-49.
The Dragons, dropping to 1-5 on the season, led Green Ridge 11-9 after first period’s end but was outscored 52-38 for the rest of the game to suffer the loss.
Bunceton coach Yancy Cody said the boys played extremely hard. “It was one of our better games,” Cody said. “Green Ridge is a tough team. We need to build on the things we did right, correct our mistakes, and continue to get better eady day.”
Austin Story led Green Ridge with 2 points while Axton Harding added 10.
For Bunceton, Kyler Tucker had 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals while Jacob Clevenger chipped in 11 points, eight rebounds, two steals and two assists. Ashton Campbell had nine points, two rebounds, one steal and one assist, Kyle Held nine points, two rebounds and two assists, Will Twenter five points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal and Aaron Clevenger with four points, three rebounds and two assists.
Bunceton also finished the game hitting 19 of 42 shots from the field for 45 percent and 10 of 18 from the foul line for 56 percent.
