Busy day = short blog.  Hopefully you will get a longer one on Friday.

The Truman State men’s and women’s basketball teams begin their final season of MIAA conference play tonight against Missouri Western in St. Jo.  The women have already defeated Missouri Western doing so at the Lincoln tournament a couple of weeks ago.  The men appear to be on the winning track after coming up just a little short earlier in the season.  They probably could have used another non-conference game or two but unfortunately they don’t have that luxury.  In my opinion both teams should do very well in their final MIAA campaigns and I would be very surprised if both teams don’t make the MIAA playoffs.  In fact, I think the women have a legitimate chance of winning the conference title which would be a nice feather in Truman’s cap before heading into a new conference next season.

The Missouri Tigers men’s basketball team did not play particularly well on Tuesday night but fortunately for them they were playing Southeast Missouri State.  SEMO led by ten points at halftime before the Tigers realized they were supposed to be playing a basketball game and woke up in the second half to win by fifteen points.  It would appear that Missouri has another one of those teams that plays up to or down to their level of competition.

The Kirksville High School lady Tigers notched another impressive victory on Monday as they demolished Hannibal in a game in which Hannibal was incredibly overmatched.  So far this year nobody has really come all that close to challenging the lady Tigers.

The boys team also had an ompressive and hard fought victory against Hannibal on Tuesday night.  They appear to be much improved over last year’s team.

The Kirksville High School wrestlers have also looked impressive thus far in the young season and are getting set to host their own tournament over the weekend.

We’ll be back on Friday with a look ahead to this weekend’s sports action.  It will be strange not to have any college football to write about.  As always thanks for supporting all the blogs on this site.

Have a terrific Wednesday!
