The Bunceton Lady Dragons basketball team remained perfect on the season by beating Helias’ JV last night in the semifinal round of the Tipton Tournament by a score of 52-35.
The Lady Dragons, 3-0 on the season, matched Helias’ JV with 12 points in the first quarter but then outscored the Crusaders 40-23 for the rest of the game.
Bunceton coach Mike Arnold said the girls came out and played four quarters for the first time this year. “I hope we can continue to build on this and get better as the season goes along,” Arnold said.
Senior Erica Kahle led three players in double figures for Bunceton with 21 points along with four assists, two steals and one rebound.
Rachel Emde finished the game with a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds along with three steals and three assists. Sam Brandes chipped in 10 points, eight rebounds and two steals while Maddie Berwanger added six points, eight rebounds, four steals and four assists, Julia Kahle with two points, four assists and two steals, Deanne Emde with one point and three rebounds and Lexus Chapman with one rebound.
For Helias’ JV, Scheuler had 10 points.
Bunceton, who led 30-15 at the half and 38-23 after three quarters of play, also finished the game hitting 21 of 40 shots from the field for 53 percent and 6 of 14 from the foul line for 43 percent.
The Lady Dragons will play top-seeded Chamois in the championship game on Saturday, Dec. 1 starting at 6 p.m.
In other games last night for the girls, Chamois defeated Tipton 56-24.
