New Franklin — In late September the New Franklin Elementary School held a bike-a-thon in order to raise money for a Santa Fe Trail monument to be erected near the intersection of HWY 5 and the Katy Trail located in New Franklin. Roughly 50 students participate and raised over $3,000.
On Friday, November 30, the elementary school will present a check to the South Howard County Historical Society at the Pride Day Assembly.
"It has been a privilege to see the enthusiasm of our students coupled with the support of parents and local businesses. This fundraiser could not have been a success without such a commitment from the entire area. I believe the Bike-A-Thon was another fine example of the family-like community we have and the pride we take in our past." New Franklin Elementary School Counselor said.
