Marissa Day burned the nets for a game-high 16 points, leading the St. Joseph girls junior high basketball team past Clarksburg 32-25 last night in the Clarksburg Tournament.
The Lady Cougars opened the first half with a 10-7 lead against Clarksburg and then held a 22-18 advantage in the second half for the victory.
St. Joseph Pilot Grove coach Eric Kraus said this game was very competitive for four quarters. “We are rebounding much better and making the extra pass with our offense,” Kraus said. “However, we still have some work to do on defense.”
Along with scoring 16 points, Day also had two steals in the game for St. Joseph Pilot Grove.
Celine Dodson finished the game with eight points, three steals and one assist while Emily Schupp added six points, six rebounds and two assists, Isabella Heckman with two points, nine rebounds and one assist, Madeline Goehman with five rebounds, four assists, one steal and one blocked shot and Karsyn Kraus with four rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocked shots.
For Clarksburg, Brooklynn Pace had 15 points.
