The Bunceton girls junior high basketball team had a picture perfect ending last week in a 30-27 win over the Higbee Lady Tigers in CCAA action at Bunceton.
Although the Lady Dragons trailed 16-4 after first period’s end against Higbee, they rallied back with a 26-11 advantage for the rest of the game to garner the victory.
Bunceton coach Mike Arnold said the girls played a complete game. “I was proud of them,” Arnold said.
Emily Clevenger led the scoring attack in the game for Bunceton, who improved to 2-8 overall and 2-7 in the CCAA, with nine points along with three steals and one assist.
Lauren Wieland finished the game with seven points, two steals and one assist while Rachel Lenz added five points and six rebounds, Courtney Johnson with four points and four rebounds, Aubrey Scott with three points and Skyler Shuffield with two points.
For the Bunceton boys, they fell at home against Higbee by a score of 49-23.
Higbee led 31-9 at the half and then outscored the Dragons 18-14 in the second half for the victory.
Bryan Terrell had 12 points, four rebounds and two steals in the game for Higbee.
Rylee Knapheide chipped in eight points while David Knipp added two points and two rebounds, Riley Layne with one point and three rebounds, Eli Pearcy with five rebounds and Andrew Breece with two rebounds.
