Ellie Monk picked up her first deer kill during the Youth Deer Firearms Season on Saturday. Monk’s 10-point buck scored a 138. Cooper County Conservation Agent Mike Abdon said the statewide total for the two-day period during the Youth Deer Season on November 3-4 exceeded last year’s total by 2,890. Abdon said statewide hunters killed 19,268 deer compared to 16,378 from last year. In the surrounding area, Cooper County checked in 173 deer, which was up 32 from last year. In Howard County, Abdon said hunters checked in 34 more deer than last year with 184 while Moniteau had 140 deer kill and Saline County with 101.
