The Otterville boys and girls junior high basketball teams recorded two conference wins Tuesday night at home by beating the Bunceton Dragons by the scores of 58-20 and 34-30, respectively.
The Lady Dragons, dropping to 1-8 overall and 1-7 in the CCAA conference, led Otterville 21-13 at the half but was outscored 21-9 in the second half to suffer the loss.
“It was a tough loss,” said Bunceton coach Mike Arnold, “but we are still showing signs of improvement and getting better.”
Rachel Lenz had 12 points, four rebounds and one steal to lead the Lady Dragons. Lauren Wieland finished the game with eight points, one rebound and one steal while Courtney Johnson added three points and three rebounds, Aubrey Scott with two points, four rebounds and one assist, Jenna Kahle also with two points and Skyler Shuffield with three rebounds.
As for the Bunceton boys, they trailed Otterville 36-9 at the half and 48-14 after three quarters of play.
Bunceton coach Yancy Cody said the guys played hard and showed improvement in rebounding.
Bryan Terrell had the team-high for Bunceton, who dropped to 1-8 overall and 1-9 in the conference, with 12 points along with four rebounds and one steal.
Rylee Knapheide finished the game with five points, one rebound and one assist while Eli Pearcy added three points, five rebounds and one assist, Riley Layne with five rebounds, David Knipp with two rebounds and one assist and Andrew Breece with two rebounds.
