Kenneth Paul (K.P.) Laxson, 83, of Marshall, MO, died Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Mar-Saline Manor in Marshall. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery. Kenneth was born in Marshall, MO on May 2, 1929 to Paul K. Laxson and Violet M. Pace Laxson, and lived most of his life in Saline County. As a child he lived in Blackwater and graduated from high school in Pilot Grove. On July 29, 1949 he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Jean Jeffress and they then moved to Arrow Rock and then Marshall. As a young man, Kenneth played both basketball and baseball on city leagues. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman, spending many days with friends in the woods and on the rivers of Missouri, hunting deer, turkey, quail, geese, and fishing for catfish. Kenneth was proud to have retired from Teamster's Union Local 41. His work life included driving a truck for Coca-Cola, construction of Truman Dam, and the Thomas Hill Power Plant. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Jeffress) Laxson; children: Deborah Lansford and husband Richard, Patricia Laxson and partner Tom Holland, Cindy Lou Laxson Kuethe and Douglas Laxson; grandchildren: Jill Lawson and husband Patrick, Jennifer Laxson, Daniel Kuethe, Courtney Stice and husband Roger, Nicholas Laxson and Natalie Laxson; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters: Joan Ussery and husband Kenneth, Joyce Hall and husband Dwain; along with several nieces. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; and one great-granddaughter, Baylie Ann Bakert. Kenneth loved his family unconditionally and got great pleasure from watching the grandchildren grow and play. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
