Here is a look at what most likely will become first round football playoff schedule under the new MSHSAA format for schools assigned to Class 4 District 6, Class 1 District 5 and Class 1 District 6.
Although the Missouri High School Activities Association will not officially release its first round pairings of the 2012 district football playoffs until after all Week 9 games are played across the state, by viewing the latest district rankings found on MSHSAA’s website the district seeds and matchups for the Oct. 26 first round can be determined.
This year’s new playoff system incorporates a single elimination bracket format for each respective 8-team district. A formula is used to award points to a team based upon it’s win/loss record, strength of opponent, and points scored.
Winners of the Oct. 26 round advance to district semifinals to be played on Halloween, Oct. 31, and the district championship game is set for Nov. 5. All games have a 7 p.m. kickof unless otherwise noted.
Regardless of a win or a loss tonight, Moberly has sewn up the fourth seed and Mexico is the 8th seed of Class 4 District 6.
Westran of Huntsville will earn the top-seed of Class 1 District 5, and Paris will be the fifth seed.
Salisbury will become the No. 2 seed of Class 1 District 6.
