  • 25 area players head Class 1 and 3 All-District Softball team

  • Twenty-five area players were selected as the best of the best in softball for the 2012 season.
    While three of the five teams posted winning records, the 2012 season also saw one player selected as the MVP in the Cooper County Athletic Association.
    Of course if you go by records, the Bunceton Lady Dragons softball team had the area's best record at 16-6, followed by Boonville and New Franklin each at 15-11, Pilot Grove at 9-13 and Prairie Home at 7-13.
    Bunceton also recorded the area's best conference record by finishing 4-1 in the CCAA, followed by New Franklin at 4-2 in the CAC, Boonville at 7-5 in the NCMC, Pilot Grove 2-3 in the CCAA and Prairie Home 1-4 in the CCAA conference.
    As for the MVP, Bunceton junior Sam Brandes was selected by the coaches in the CCAA as the best of that conference.
    Boonville and New Franklin each had six players selected to the all-district team while Bunceton and Pilot Grove had five players selected each and Prairie Home with three.
    Players selected first-team all-district were: Olivia Imhoff, Emily Gerhardt and Addy Reardon, Boonville; Aly Hundley, Kalani Pihana, Emily Hendrix, Kallie Monteer and Sara Montgomery, New Franklin; Melissa Schlotzhauer, Kori Marshall and McKalie Lorenz, Pilot Grove; and Erica Kahle, Sam Brandes and Maddy Berwanger, Bunceton.
    Players selected second-team all-district were: Madison Lester, Michelle Surratt and Havyn Monteer, Boonville; Rachel and Deanne Emde, Bunceton; Mikala Wesselman and McKenzi Schuster, Pilot Grove; Abby Prewitt, New Franklin; Kendra Stinson, Makayla Zey and Katlynn Watson, Prairie Home.
    The following are synopsis of each area player selected to the all-district team:
    Boonville
    Addy Reardon, Jr.
    Boonville junior Addy Reardon led the Lady Pirates in hitting for the second year in a row while finishing the 2012 season with a .470 clip with 31 hits in 66 at-bats with 19 singles, four doubles, six triples, two home runs and 27 RBIs. She also scored 30 runs and broke the career record for triples with 13. Amanda Rhorer held the previous record with 10 career triples from 1996-99.
    Emily Gerhardt, Sr.
    Boonville senior Emily Gerhardt finished second on the team in hitting for the Lady Pirates while finishing with a .439 batting clip with 36 hits in 82 at-bats with 21 singles, 15 doubles and a team-leading 30 RBIs.
    Havyn Monteer, Fr.
    Playing in her first year for the Lady Pirates, freshman Havyn Monteer hit .398 with 33 hits in 83 at-bats with 28 singles, one double, four triples and 14 RBIs. She also scored a team-leading 34 runs and finished tops in stolen bases with 34.
    Olivia Imhoff, So.
    Boonville sophomore Olivia Imhoff played multiple positions this season for the Lady Pirates but had little drop off offensively while hitting .373 with 28 hits in 75 at-bats with 20 singles, five doubles, two triples, one home run and 14 RBIs. She also finished second in runs scored with 33.

    Boonville senior Madison Lester finished the season hitting .413 with 26 hits in 63 at-bats with 23 singles, two doubles, one triple and 12 RBIs while scoring 12 runs.
    Michelle Surratt, Fr.
    Nobody worked harder on the mound this season than Boonville freshman Michelle Surratt.
    While pitching in 20 of the team's 26 games, Surratt finished with a record of 13-7 with an ERA of 4.27. In 126 1/3 innings pitched, Surratt gave up 107 runs, 77 earned, on 151 hits while walking 45 and striking out 88. She also hit .462 with six hits in 13 at-bats.
    New Franklin
    Aly Hundley, Jr.
    Hundley hit .357 for the season with 25 hits in 70 at-bats with 18 singles, four doubles, three triples and 16 RBIs.
    Kalani Pihana, Jr.
    Pihana finished 12-6 with an ERA of 4.49 for the Lady Bulldogs while hitting .265 with 18 hits in 68 at-bats with 11 singles, four doubles, two triples and one home run.
    Sara Montgomery, Jr.
    Montgomery hit .420 with 29 hits in 69 at-bats with 27 singles, two doubles and 21 RBIs.
    Kallie Monteer, Sr.
    Monteer hit .442 with 34 hits in 77 at-bats with 20 singles, nine doubles, three triples, two home runs and 21 RBIs.
    Abby Prewitt, Jr.
    Prewitt hit .369 with 24 hits in 65 at-bats with 15 singles, six doubles, three home runs and 28 RBIs.
    Emily Hendrix, Sr.
    Hendrix hit .365 with 27 hits in 74 at-bats with 20 singles, four doubles, two triples, one home run and 21 RBIs.
    Bunceton
    Sam Brandes, Jr.
    Brandes hit .507 for the season with 35 hits in 69 at-bats with 20 singles, five doubles, one triple, nine home runs and 31 RBIs. She also scored a team-leading 38 runs and finished 9-3 on the mound with an ERA of 4.24.
    Erica Kahle, Sr.
    Kahle hit .468 for the season with 37 hits in 79 at-bats with 23 singles, seven doubles, two triples, five home runs and 23 RBIs.
    Maddy Berwanger, Jr.
    Berwanger hit .453 for the season with 34 hits in 75 at-bats with 18 singles, nine doubles, two triples, five home runs and 35 RBIs.
    Rachel Emde, Jr.
    Rachel Emde hit .465 for the season with 33 hits in 71 at-bats with 25 singles, three doubles, three triples, two home runs and 31 RBIs.
    Deanne Emde, So.
    Deanne Emde hit .516 with 32 hits in 62 at-bats with 27 singles, one double, one triple, two home runs and 17 RBIs.
    Pilot Grove
    McKalie Lorenz, So.
    Lorenz hit .514 for the season with 36 hits in 70 at-bats with 22 singles, nine doubles, one triple, four home runs and a team-leading 30 RBIs.
    Melissa Schlotzhauer, So.
    Schlotzhauer hit .463 for the season with 31 hits in 67 at-bats with 27 singles, three doubles, one home run and nine RBIs.
    Kori Marshall, Sr.
    Marshall hit .463 for the season with 31 hits in 67 at-bats with 17 singles, six doubles, five triples, three home runs and a team-leading 26 RBIs.

    Wesselman hit .379 for the season with 22 hits in 58 at-bats with 19 singles, one double, one triple, one home run and 13 RBIs.
    McKenzi Schuster, Jr.
    Schuster hit .354 for the season with 23 hits in 65 at-bats with 18 singles, one double, three triples, one home run and 13 RBIs.
    Prairie Home
    Kendra Stinson, Sr.
    Stinson hit .606 for the season with 21 hits in 33 at-bats with 18 singles, one double, two triples and six RBIs. She also had 19 stolen bases.
    Katlynn Watson, Sr.
    Watson hit .511 for the season with 24 hits in 47 at-bats with 20 singles, two doubles, one triple, one home run and 15 RBIs.
    Makayla Zey, Fr.
    Zey hit .412 for the season with 14 hits in 34 at-bats with 12 singles, one double, one triple and 12 RBIs.
