  • Boonville JV wins season finale over Fulton, 16-0

  • Boonville’s junior varsity football team couldn’t have asked for a better end to the season Monday night on the road against the Fulton Hornets.
    By blanking the Hornets 16-0, the Pirates closed out the season at 3-3 overall.
    Of course it didn’t take Boonville long to get on the scoreboard, as freshman quarterback Jady Reese hit paydirt on a 2-yard run in the first quarter to make it 6-0. Then, on the two-point conversion, Reese hooked up with Brenden Meyer to extend the lead to 8-0.
    Both teams played to a defensive standstill for the rest of the half. Meanwhile, in the third quarter, the Pirates struck again on a 11-yard run by sophomore Austin Henderson to go up 14-0. Reese and Meyer then rounded out the scoring by hooking up for a second time on the two-point conversion to make it 16-0.
    Boonville finished the game with 42 rushing attempts for 226 yards and 35 passing yards for a total of 261 yards in total offense.
    Henderson led the rushing attack with 14 carries for 88 yards and one touchdown while  Meyer had 11 carries for 68 yards and two-two point conversions. Jordan Weaver added 13 carries for 57 yards while Jady Reese had four carries for 13 yards and one score.
    Reese also completed 6 of 9 passes in the game for 35 yards while Henderson was 0 for 1.
    As for receiving yards, Meyer had four catches for 31 yards while Jared Bledsoe added two catches for 4 yards.
    On the defensive side of the ball, Jordan Weaver had three solo stops and eight assisted tackles. Jady Reese finished the game with four solo stops, four assisted tackles and one interception while Austin Henderson added three solo stops, three assisted tackles and one interception, Brenden Meyer with two solo stops, four assisted tackles and one interception, Andrew Garrison with two solo stops, four assisted tackles and one tackle for a loss, Halden Toomsen with one solo stop and two assisted tackles, Jared Bledsoe with two assisted tackles and one interception, Mark Garrison with two assisted tackles, Devlin Carter with one assisted tackle and Adam Lixey with one assisted tackle and one tackle for a loss.
