  • Screen icon Tab Hunter (Damn Yankees) and television star Joyce DeWitt (Three’s Company) will light up the Lyceum with significant star power in A.R. Gurney’s beautiful play.  Comprised of letters exchanged over a lifetime between two people who grew up together, went their separate ways, but continued to share confidences.  As the actors read the letters aloud, an evocative, touching, frequently funny but always telling pair of character studies emerge in which what is implied is as revealing and meaningful as what is actually written down.  Don’t miss your chance to see these two legends in this beautiful play.
Tab Hunter’s good looks landed him a role in the film Island of Desire opposite Linda Darnell. However, it was his co-starring role as young Marine Danny in 1955's World War II drama Battle Cry, in which he has an affair with an older woman, but ends up marrying the girl next door, that cemented his position as one of Hollywood's top young romantic leads. His other hit films include The Burning Hills with Natalie Wood, That Kind of Woman with Sophia Loren, Gunman's Walk with Van Heflin and The Pleasure of His Company with Debbie Reynolds. He went on to star in over forty major films and became a cult star in the 1980s appearing in Lust in the Dust, Polyester and Grease 2. In January 2012, Tab Hunter appeared opposite Joyce DeWitt in A. R. Gurney's play Love Letters at Judson Theatre Company in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
Joyce DeWitt is most widely known to audiences for her starring role as “Janet Wood” in the ABC Television hit series Three’s Company.  She also has an extensive background in the Theatre, working both as actress and director in a Stage career that spans over forty years.  Miss DeWitt has starred in numerous theatrical productions including It’s Connecticut by The Simpson’s writer Mike Reiss, Miss Abigail’s Guide to Dating, Mating and Marriage!, A Scattered, Smothered and Covered Christmas Musical, the Canadian premiers of the 2000 Pulitzer Prize winning play Dinner With Friends and Alfred Uhry’s Tony Award-winning play The Last Night of Ballyhoo.  Other recent stage performances include the North American premiere of the Australian comedy Daylight Savings, the British farce Noises Off, the revival of Cole Porter’s Anything Goes, and the Broadway musical Olympus on My Mind, for which she completed the cast recording – her first record album.
“All of us at the Lyceum are excited to welcome these two stars to Arrow Rock and share their considerable
talents with our Mid-Missouri audiences,” said Lyceum Artistic Director, Quin Gresham.
