The Ss. Peter & Paul boys and girls eighth grade basketball teams advanced to the semifinal round of the Higbee Tournament last night by beating St. Mary’s of Glasgow by the scores of 48-23 and 43-13, respectively.
For the Lady Warriors, who led 25-9 at the half, Addison Quinlan had 11 points, four steals and three assists. Hannah Fuemmeler finished the game with eight points, five steals, four rebounds and three assists while Ella Reisinger added eight points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists, Cassie Armentrout with eight points, four steals and one assist, Ellie Monk with four points, six rebounds and one assist, Amber Oerly with four points and five rebounds, Kiley Barnes with two rebounds, two assists and one steal and Stella Tutin with one steal.
Ss. Peter & Paul coach Danny Fuemmeler said this was an outstanding first game. “The girls played together like it was the middle of the season,” Fuemmeler said.
As for the Ss. Peter & Paul boys, who led 22-10 at the half, Riley Lang tossed in 22 points, seven rebounds, three steals, three assists and one blocked shot.
Ryan Sprigg finished the game with 10 points, four rebounds and four steals while Tommy Kopine added eight points, three rebounds and two steals, Zach Weber with four points, four steals, two rebounds and one assist, Lance Quinlan with four points and one steal and Toby Adair with three rebounds.
Ss. Peter & Paul coach Kevin Lang said he was extremely happy with the way the boys played in their first game of the season.
