The Jamestown boys junior high basketball team outscored Bunceton in three out of the four quarters of play for a 39-14 victory in the season opener Tuesday night at Bunceton.
The Eagles led 12-7 at the half and then outscored the Dragons 27-7 in the final-two periods.
Bunceton coach Yancy Cody said for the first game the Dragons only had six players. “We stuck with the first half, but quickly ran out of gas,” Cody said. “We need to improve conditioning before our next game Monday in the Prairie Home Tournament.”
Trenton Barbour had the high game for Jamestown with 15 points.
For Bunceton, Bryan Terrell had five points, four rebounds and one steal. Riley Layne added four points and six rebounds while Rylee Knapheide chipped in three points, two steals and one assist, David Knipp with two points, Eli Pearcy with four rebounds and Andrew Breece with one rebound and one steal.

The Bunceton girls junior high basketball team dropped its season opener Tuesday night at home against the Jamestown Lady Eagles.
Jamestown led 16-6 at the half and then outscored Bunceton 15-8 in the final-two periods.
Bunceton coach Mike Arnold said first game jitters was evident. “I thought we played two good quarters,” Arnold said. “We still have a lot to work on but I was proud of how we defended.”
Siera Cooper led the scoring attack for Jamestown with six points.
For Bunceton, Aubrey Scott had seven points, four steals, three rebounds and one assist.
Rachel Lenz also had seven points, eight rebounds, three steals and one assist while Lauren Wieland chipped in six points, six steals, three assists and one rebound, Courtney Johnson six points, seven rebounds and one steal, Emily Clevenger with four points, five steals, four rebounds and one assist, Skyler Shuffield with one point and one rebound and Ravin Banner with four rebounds and two steals.
