The Jamestown Eagles baseball team advanced to the second round of the CCAA Tournament Friday in Prairie Home by beating the Higbee Tigers 8-4.
The Eagles, the No. 4 seed in the tournament, led fifth-seeded Higbee 3-0 after the first. However, in the second inning, Higbee rallied back with three runs to tie the game at 3-all. Unfortunately for the Tigers, they never got any closer to taking the lead in the ballgame as Jamestown rallied back with one in the bottom-half of the second and two in each of the third and fourth innings of play for the victory.
Devore picked up the win on the mound for Jamestown while Cook took the loss for Higbee.
Thompson and Clevenger each had two hits in the game for Jamestown while Gerlach, Hendrickson and Devore added one hit each.
For Higbee, Kirkendall went 2-for-3 with two singles while Dias, Cook, Skaggs, Andrews, Beal and Poulin added one hit each.
In the semifinal round on Tuesday, Jamestown will take on top-seeded Pilot Grove starting at 5 p.m. while No. 2 Bunceton battles No. 3 Prairie Home at 7.
The winners will advance to the championship game on Thursday, Sept. 27 starting at 7. The third place game will also take place on Thursday at 5.
