  • Elois Scott, 96, of rural Bunceton, passed away at Tipton Oaks Care Center on Tuesday morning, Sept. 11th, 2012.
    Funeral services for Elois will be held at the Pisgah Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, Sept 14th, 2012 with Rev. Lewis Odneal officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 o'clock to time of service.
    Elois Aleene Scott was the youngest of eight children, born April 7, 1916, the daughter David William Hubbard and RosaLee Garrett Hubbard. At the age of one year she was taken into the home of Andrew and Rhoann Richey at Tipton, MO where she lived until June 25, 1925 when she came to this community to live in the home of the late Leighton C. and Mary Jane Yancey. In December of 1927, at the age of eleven years she united with the Pisgah Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and served as W.M.U. director for many years. On Oct. 11th, 1935 she was married to William Pet Scott at the Boonville Baptist Church by the late Rev. E.L. Painter. Elois remained a devout member of the Pisgah church all her life. She was a farmer's wife and had worked in Boonville and Tipton, most recently for the Hittner Furniture Store in Boonville. She enjoyed many crafts, especially quilting. Her quilts were praised by the best quilters in the state as 'as good as it gets'.
    Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Bonnie Lois Simmons; by three brothers and four sisters as well as one grandchild, Viola McMullin.
    She is survived by one daughter, Effie Jane Cornine, of Sedalia and by seven grandchildren; Morgan (Mary)Arnold of Bunceton, MO Jeana (Mike) Stone of Conyer, GA, Scott Simmons, of Boonville, Cynthia (Steve) Stewart of Rockaway Beach, MO, Gary (Honey) Cornine of Sedalia, Sherry (Bobby)Bader of Pilot Grove and Wanda (Marty) Kostopolus of Belton, MO. She also leaves behind thirty four great-great grandchildren.
    Memorials are suggested to the Pisgah Cemetery association. Arrangements under the direction of Davis Funeral Chapel.
