Patricia (Patty) M. Shay, 59, died Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St Louis, MO.
Patty was born on January 9, 1953 in Marshall, MO to the late Henry L. and Helen M. Hoff.
Patty was a founding member and Senior Vice President at the First Southern Bank in Carbondale, IL. She was a member of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale where she served on the Parish Council.
Patty biggest joy in life came from her children and grandchildren. She was an amazing mother and grandmother. Any free time she had she would dedicate to spending time with them. Whether she was traveling to St. Louis to see her daughter or to Denver to spend time with her son, Patty always put the needs of her children and her grandchildren first. She also never forgot her extended family and stayed involved in her siblings' families' lives. Patty was a strong and successful woman with a big personality and a great sense of humor. Her bright smile and quick wit made her fast friends with anyone she met. Her selflessness and giving nature made her friends with them for life.
When she wasn't devoting time to her family, Patty would set aside time to volunteer within the community with organizations such as Carbondale Community Arts, Girl Scouts of America and various other women's organizations.
