The "business expo in a festival setting" theme for this year's Festival of Lights will see its opening ceremony on September 6 at 6:00 p.m. at the corner of Spring and Main Streets. The Boonville Chamber of Commerce promoted-event, which has run for approximately 10 years, provides music for the community, 4-H run train-rides, a bounce house for children and raffles.

"This is also meant to raise money for two local food banks – As the River Flows and Neighbors Helping Neighbors," said Executive Director for the Chamber of Commerce, Kim Krajicek-Alberts.

Local businesses are to be featured extensively on Thursdays throughout the month of September and many offer discounts and coupons to the public that are festival-related.

"We're trying to do it to get more exposure to the businesses. This is an informal informational time for people. some business put on a theme each week. We especially encourage home businesses and anybody that's off the beaten path to fill out a vendor application and participate," Alberts said.

Vendor applications are available at Gordon Jewelers and the Chamber Office.
