  • As of 8:03 p.m., all Cooper County precincts had reported their tallies. Kudos to both James Hurt and Kevin Swartz for running clean campaigns. A full wrap-up of tonight's election will be run in Thursday's print edition.

    After an initial primary election that saw each Coroner candidate receive 1,320 votes apiece, a special election was opted for. Tonight, James Hurt held his seat and will serve the county again as Coroner. Tonight's final tally saw Hurt win by a margin of 343 votes. This total factors in a near 58 percent grab for the incumbent. Kevin Swartz received just over 42 percent of the total. Total voter turnout is tabulated at 21.44 percent.
