Lawrence 'Larry' L. Volrath, 78, of Huntsville, MO, formerly of Boonville, died of cancer at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia on Sunday morning, Aug. 19th, 2012.
Memorial services for Larry will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, Aug. 25th, 2012 with Rev. Doris Redding officiating. Family will receive friends after the service for as long as it takes.
Lawrence Lee Volrath was born in Boonville, MO on Dec. 19th, 1933 the son of Henry Lee Volrath and Isabelle Fisher Volrath. Larry was married to Joy Rae Davis who preceded him in death in 2005. In December of 2009, Larry married Jo Ann Hollenberg in Huntsville, where they made their home. Larry had worked for McGraw Edison for thirty one years, many of those years as plant superintendent, until his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed traveling the United States and Canada with family and friends, looking for places to hunt and fish, which was his favorite pastime. He had many interesting and funny stories to tell about their adventures.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann of the home, his children Debbie Overstreet (Steve) of Texas, and Donna Jesse of Fayette. Larry also leaves behind his stepdaughters, Amy and Robert Otto of Macon, MO, Tracy and Jeff Zeller of Boonville, Heidi and Cecil Coutts of Fayette and Jane Hollenberg of Higbee, MO and her friend, Sarah Wright. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Larry (Michele) Zaugg of Las Vegas, Nevada, Amanda Jesse of Fayette as well as eight step-grandchildren. Larry will also be missed very much by his six great- grandchildren. Larry also leaves behind a brother, Roy and his wife Claire of Boonville as well as a cousin, Billy Earl Vollrath and wife Pat of Boonville.
