Mrs. Irene K. Hardin, of New Franklin, passed away August 17, 2012 at her home. She was 84 years old.
She was born August 20, 1927 in East Lynne, Missouri, a daughter of LeRoy and Clara Oesch Kircher. Irene married Dewey B. Hardin, Jr. on August 10, 1946 in Columbia. He preceded her in death on January 27, 2002 after fifty-five years of marriage.
As a couple, Irene and Dewey owned and operated Hardin Sundries and Fabric Shop in New Franklin prior to retirement. Irene was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Silver Liners Senior Center all of New Franklin. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing cards and traveling to Texas for many years in the winter with Dewey. She enjoyed watching NASCAR and was an avid Carl Edwards fan.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Wilson and husband, Don of Dawson, Illinois, Carolyn Heilman of New Franklin and Cindy Kivett and husband, Randy of Franklin; one sister, Mary Alice Brown of Joplin, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Shelley Vaughn and husband, Shawn of Loami, Illinois, Lisa Davis of Springfield, Illinois, Susan Heilman of New Franklin, Christy Martin and husband, Anthony of New Franklin, Mike Heilman and wife, Christina of Boonville, Joshua Kivett of Boonville, Jessica Caszatt and husband, Ben of Columbia and Breanna Kivett of Franklin; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Allen Kircher and LeRoy Kircher, Jr.; sister, Maxine Kinder; great-grandson, Anthony Cole Martin and son-in-law, Paul Heilman.
Services were held, Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin with Rev. Art Barkeyofficiating. Burial was held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin.
