Fall teams will showcase their skills
The Boonville Pirates Booster Club will sponsor "Meet the Coaches Night" on Friday, August 10.
The Boonville Lady Pirates will kick off the evening at Rolling Hills park starting at 5 p.m., followed by tennis at 5:30 (parents meeting at the tennis bleachers), volleyball at 5:45 (parents meeting in the gym), soccer at 6 (parents meeting at the high school media center), football at 6:15 (parents meeting at home bleachers), and cheerleading and dance at 6:45 (parents meeting at high school media center).
On Monday and Tuesday, August 13-14, individual and group pictures will be taken using the following schedule: (Monday, August 13) football, 5 p.m.; soccer, 5:30 p.m.; softball, 6 p.m. at Rolling Hills park; (Tuesday, August 14) Cheer and Dance, 5 p.m.; cross-country, 5:15 p.m.; tennis, 5:30 p.m.; volleyball, 6 p.m.
The Boonville Lady Pirates softball team will be the first to kick off the 2012 season on August 22 at Columbia Hickman starting at 5 p.m. Then, after another road game against the Hannibal Pirates on August 23, the Lady Pirates softball team will return home for the Lady Pirate Lead-Off Classic on August 25.
The Boonville Lady Pirates tennis team won't have far to go for its season opener, which begins on August 23 at home against the Kirksville Lady Tigers starting at 4 p.m.
The Boonville Pirates football team will also kick off the 2012 season on Friday, August 24 on the road against the California Pintos starting at 7. The Pirates first home game of the season will be held on August 31 against the Higginsville Husker, an old MRVC rival, starting at 7.
As for the Boonville Lady Pirates volleyball team, they will hit the courts for the first time on August 27 on the road against the Higginsville Lady Huskers starting at 6 p.m. Then, on August 30, Boonville will host the California Pintos in their home opener starting at 6.
As for the Boonville boys soccer team, they will be on the road as well for the season opener on August 28 against the Oak Grove Panthers starting at 5 p.m. The Pirates will then return home on September 4 against the Fulton Hornets.
Last but not least, the Boonville boys and girls cross-country team will start the season on September 9 at Oak Grove starting at 4 p.m.
Shikles also announced that the Boonville Fall Season Sports Passes are now on sale at the high school office.
With the season opening in softball on August 22 and tennis one day later, Shikles said fans can get their sports passes for both Boonville High School and LSE.
But it gets better, Shikles said the price will remain the same as last year. The cost for an adult season pass to all sporting events is $45 while a student season pass to all sporting events is $40.
As for family passes, Shikles said the cost will be $100. However, Shikles said children not attending school in grades K-12 are not to be included in a Family Pass. He said they may buy an adult pass or pass at the gate.
Shikles also commented that high school and Laura Speed Elliott Middle School students who purchase a season pass by August 6 will be able to use their student ID card as their season pass.
Tickets may be purchased in the principal's office at Boonville R-I High School and Laura Speed Elliott Middle School. Make checks payable to Boonville R-1 Schools. Tickets may be picked up in the principal's office or will be mailed to you on receipt of your order.
Shikles said the football jamboree, tournaments and playoffs are not included in season passes. Season passes are good for Boonville R-1 High School athletic events and Laura Speed Elliott athletic events only.
