Sawyer Quinlan was diagnosed with internal melanoma cancer, a rare affliction. The public is invited to a benefit on Friday.

Friday will see a cancer benefit for local resident, Sawyer Quinlan, at Maggie's Bar and Grill. Quinlan, who has been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive internal melanoma cancer, will be supported by an estimated several-hundred people at Friday's benefit, according to Brenda Snoddy, a close family friend.

"We are expecting around 500. Because of all the people showing up, we've expanded the area into the Browning Hardware lot and the side lot of Maggie's and we're closing off the alley behind Maggie's. We've got a ton of items," said Snoddy.

Prizes available will include, Rams vs. Chief's pre-season tickets, Cardinals tickets, various articles of sport team-themed clothing, White Water and Silver Dollar City tickets, a wine tasting tour for 10 people at Les Bourgeois, a barbeque grill, 125 gift certificates and a two night/three day stay at Indian Point Resort in Branson.

"You don't realize how important it is until something like this happens to you. Kids can come out and to a "swishing for sawyer" – we've got quilts and gift baskets as well to give away. People are coming from as far away as Lake of the Ozarks and Columbia," said Snoddy.

Maggie's Bar & Grill is located on Main Street in Boonville. The event will serve pulled pork sandwiches, along with other sides. The benefit begins at 5:00 p.m. and the silent auction is scheduled to take place at 7:00 p.m.

The Wildcat Daddy's and Son's of Mitch's will perform for guests. For additional information, please contact Ilene at Maggie's Bar & Grill at 660-882-7242 or Brenda Snoddy at 660-621-2879. Donations are welcome.
