  • On July 10, Boonville's Friends of the Library travelled to Warsaw to visit the new public library and meet with their counterparts to discuss fundraising activities. The seven members of the Boonville group hoped to learn what had or had not been successful for the Warsaw Library.
"We were particularly impressed with the meeting room at the Warsaw library, which provides an outside entrance and separate restroom and refreshment facilities, so that the room can be used by community groups even when the library isn't open," said Boonville Friends of the Library President Jane Lago.
In addition, children have a separate room in the library, with child-sized furniture and facilities, where they can read and play without disturbing other users. A grouping of computers outside the windows to this room allows parents to keep an eye on their kids while pursuing their own research.
Anyone potentially interested in helping support Boonville's library project can join the local Friends group. Memberships are $5 per year for students, $10 per year for individuals, and $15 per year for families. Additional information and membership forms are available at the Library.
"We are looking forward to the day when Boonville's library can offer similar assets for our own community. I don't think anyone can deny that the present library building is woefully inadequate for the services that the library provides," said Friends of the Library President, Jane Lago.
