Due to circumstances beyond the Daily News' control, our paper was forced to postpone the BDN Pool Party until a later date. We will keep readers informed and let the public know when the event can be rescheduled. The event, scheduled to take place yesterday evening at 6:00 p.m., was free and open to the public and once rescheduled, it still will be.
"We had an incident at the pool yesterday at about 3:00 p.m. that required us to shut all the systems down," said Boonville Director of Parks, Gary Nauman.
A swim meet, set to see approximately 700 swimmers from the region, will not be affected by the incident. It will begin, as scheduled, tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m.
"We had to go in and super-chlorinate the pool – we had to increase the chlorine to 10 times our normal residual levels. Our plans are to stop the process around 12:00 noon and have everything turned back on around 4:00 p.m.," said Nauman.
"We were disappointed that we were not able to hold the event last night, but are looking forward to rescheduling a new date this summer. Thank you to the community for being understanding," said Daily News Publisher, Deborah Marshall.
