  • Boonville's local agency funding program, made possible by a 1/2 cent sales tax, nears its deadline for this year's applications. Applications must be completed, signed and filed with the City Clerk's office at 401 Main Street no later than July 25.
Agency approvals are limited to not-for-profits, non-religious organizations or divisions of government. Following timely application submissions, each organization will be given an opportunity to make a presentation on July 31 to a 4-person funding committee, made up of three citizens and one City Council representative.
"We'll begin at 6:00 p.m. and each organization will have 5 minutes to review their application with the committee and answer any questions. Once that is completed, the committee will review the applications and present their recommendations to City Council on August 6," said Boonville City Clerk, Mary McAllister.
The said funding committee will include Chairman, Wayne Jones, along with Jeff Martin and Danielle Blanck. Henry Hurt is to be the City Council representative.
"On average, we have 16 to 18 groups apply," said McAllister.
Pending an agency's approval for city funding, moneys will be divided accordingly, and not limited to a single group. Projects will be judged according to the following criteria: benefit to Boonville residents, demonstrated project need, organizational financial support, community involvement, ability to reach target audience and ability to execute projects.
The highest priority will be given to projects which provide relief or services to Boonville residents. The lowest priority will be given to organizations that have the ability to tax and those which were created by state statutes or local ordinances.
For more information on the application process, please contact Boonville's City Administrator, Irl Tessendorf, at 882-2332.
