  • Magyar paces Blue Marlins with five first-place finishes in triangular meet

  • With the Mid-Missouri Conference Meet on tap this weekend at the Boonville Lions Park Aquatic Center, the Boonslick Heartland YMCA Blue Marlins swim team couldn’t have asked for a better warm up than the triangular meet last Saturday against Centralia and Waverly.
    Although the Blue Marlins will have another meet tonight at California, they more than held their own in the water against Centralia and Waverly by recording first-place finishes in 35 events.
    As for the conference meet on Saturday, July 14, the Blue Marlins will compete against Mexico, Centralia, Jefferson City, Waverly, Sedalia, Eldon, California, Laurie and Fulton. An estimated 700 swimmers will take part in the meet, which is set to get underway at 7 a.m.
    As for the triangular meet last Saturday, Bailey Magyar captured first in five innints by winning the 100 I.M., 100 back, 50 back, 50 free and 50 butterfly in the 13-14 age group.
    The Blue Marlins also had four event winners, with Carlie Daniel placing first in the 25 back, 25 free, 25 fly and 25 breaststroke in the 6-and-under age group. Jaden Reddell also competed in the 6-and-under age group and took first in the 25 back, 25 free, 25 fly and 25 breaststroke. In the 7-8 age group, Sidney Morris placed first in the 25 back, 25 free, 25 fly and 25 breaststroke. Meanwhile, in the 15-18 age group, Rebecca Gramlich finished first in the 50 free, 50 fly, 100 fly and 200 free.
    Samantha Dorman also participated in the 15-18 age group and captured first in the 50 back, 50 breaststroke and 100 I.M. Dorman also placed second in the 50 free. Samantha Roberts, meanwhile, competed in the 11-12 age group and finished first in the 50 back, 50 free and 50 fly.
    Sarah Vogt also took her turn in the 11-12 age group and placed first in the 50 breaststroke, first in the 100 I.M. and second in the 50 fly.
    One event winners were Colten Collyott in the 25 back in the 9-10 age group, Hana Cook in the 25 breaststroke in the 9-10 age group, Elayna Kramm in the 25 free in the 9-10 age group, Keaton Morris in the 50 free in the 11-12 age group, Patience Dorman in the 100 free in the 13-14 age group, and Gavin Hoelscher in the 100 free in the 13-14 age group.
