  • Boonville 10 All-Stars go 0-3 in Babe Ruth State Tournament

  • The Boonville 10-and-under All-Stars had high hopes going into the Babe Ruth State Tournament over the weekend in Bonne Terre, Missouri.

  • The Boonville 10-and-under All-Stars had high hopes going into the Babe Ruth State Tournament over the weekend in Bonne Terre, Missouri.
    However after dropping their first-two games of the tournament on Friday against Mineral Area and Heartland American by the scores of 9-6 and 14-4, the Boonville 10 All-Stars came back and dropped their third game of the tournament against Mineral Area by a score of 10-3.
    In the opening round Friday against Mineral Area, the Boonville 10 All-Stars trailed 4-1 after one and 6-1 after two before rallying back with five runs in the top-half of the third to tie the game at 6-all. However, in the bottom-half of the third, Mineral Area sent three runs across to garner the victory.
    Morgan Massa took the loss on the mound for Boonville by giving up nine runs on two hits and seven walks while striking out two batters in three innings. Kiersdon Davis was the winning pitcher for Mineral Area. In two innings, Davis gave up one run on one hit and two walks while striking out three.
    Jacey Fenton had the only hit in the game for Boonville, being a single.
    For Mineral Area, Jordan Mercer had a single and a double.
    In the second game later that night against Heartland American, Boonville led 4-2 after the first but then surrendered 12 runs in the top-half of the third to suffer the loss.
    Massa suffered the loss on the mound for Boonville by giving up nine runs on nine walks in two innings. Massa also struck out three batters. Logan Root then came in and pitched one inning in relief and surrendered five runs on five walks while striking out three.
    Ashley Strood, who pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief of starter Kelly Quimby, picked up the win on the mound for Heartland American.
    Jacey Fenton had the only hit in the game for Boonville, being a single.
    In the final game against Mineral Area on Saturday, the Boonville 10 All-Stars trailed by a score of 4-0 after the first before rallying back with three runs in the top-half of the second to cut the lead to one at 4-3.
    Unfortunately for Boonville, they never got any closer in the ballgame as Mineral Area rallied back with six runs in the bottom-half of the second for the victory.
    Kathy Howard said the game against Mineral Area was postponed due to heat, followed by extended rain delay.

    Kiersdon Davis was the winning pitcher in the game for Mineral Area by giving up three runs on three hits and three walks in three innings. Davis also struck out three batters.
    Page 2 of 2 - Bryanna Jones had a single and two RBIs in the game for Boonville while Abbie Grizzle and Kennedy Walker added one single each.
    Ashley Moore, Claudia Labruyer and Jordan Mercer each had one single and one RBI in the game for Mineral Area.
    Note: Jacey Fenton was voted MVP in the final game against Mineral Area by the umpires.
