As fireworks bans are being imposed across the region, another city joins the list. Drought conditions are continuing to escalate. Boonville's expected high for the day is 100 degrees, considerably less than in the preceding days. However, a heat advisory continues to be in effect for the area.
Additionally, due to the increased fire hazard as a result of statewide drought conditions, the city of New Franklin has instituted a fireworks ban. This news come per New Franklin Chief of Police, David E. Wells.
Temperatures are expected to be at or above 100 degrees for the remainder of the week, according to the National Weather Service, Kansas City office.
Boonville's scheduled 4th of July fireworks celebration is still on hold. No future date has been set at this time. Heat index readings will climb to as high as 105 degrees over the next few days.
