Having the last at-bat proved to be beneficial for Edward Jones in Senior Babe Ruth action Sunday night at Twillman Field in Harley park.
After battling UMB Bank, who was undefeated at the time in SBR to a 5-5 ballgame after five, Edward Jones came back and scored two runs in the bottom-half of the sixth for a 7-5 victory.
Meanwhile, in the nightcap, UMB Bank rallied from a 2-0 deficit after three by outscoring Alliant Bank 19-2 for the next-three innings for a 19-4 victory.
Edward Jones, improving to 3-3 on the season, trailed UMB Bank 2-0 after one and 3-1 after three before rallying back with one run in the bottom-half of the fourth to cut the lead to one at 3-2. Meanwhile, after UMB Bank plated two runs in the top-half of the to go up 5-2, Edward Jones came back and tacked on three more runs in the bottom-half of the inning to tie the game at 5-all. Then, after UMB?Bank stranded two runners in the top-half of the sixth, Edward Jones came back and sent two runs across in the bottom-half of the inning on a RBI-double by Caleb Hein and a RBI-single by D.L. Green for the victory.
Hein also picked up the win on the mound for Edward Jones while John Reese took the loss for UMB Bank, who dropped to 4-1. Hein started the game and pitched the first-five innings, giving up five runs on 12 hits and one walk while striking out six. Dallas Franklin then came in and pitched two innings in relief and surrendered three hits and two walks.
For UMB?Bank, Reese pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed four runs on 11 hits and two walks while striking out four. Jeremy Davis then came in and pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief and issued two runs on four hits and one walk.
Edward Jones also out-hit UMB Bank 18-15, with D.L. Green going 4-for-4 with three singles, one double and one RBI. Jeffrey Jackson was 3-for-4 with three singles while Caleb Hein added two doubles and one RBI, Tanner Hulbert with two singles and one RBI, Dylan Albertson and Addison Jobe each with two singles and Aaron Waibel, Dyllan Crowley and Dallas Franklin with one single each.
For UMB?Bank, John Reese went 3-for-4 with one single and two doubles while Mitchell Hackman and Jeremy Davis added three singles each, Jacob Francis and Sean Lorenz each with a single and a double, Jalen Poindexter with a home run and one RBI and Tyler Spence with one single.
In the nightcap, Alliant Bank led UMB?Bank 2-0 after the third. However it was pretty much all UMB Bank after that while exploding for six runs in the fourth, three again in the fifth and 10 in the sixth to make it 19-2. Meanwhile, in the bottom-half of the sixth, Alliant Bank rallied back with two runs to closeout the scoring.

Mitchell Hackman was 2-for-5 with a single, double and three RBIs while Tyler Spence had two singles and one RBI, John Reese with a two-RBI double, Jalen Poindexter with a home run, Andrew Tutin with a RBI-single and Sean Lorenz with one single.
For Alliant Bank, Chase Snapp had two singles and two RBIs while Zach Nixon added two singles and one RBI and Collin O’Connell, Nate Paris, Grant Davis, Cass Quinlan and Andrew Broyhill each with one single.
