  • In Babe Ruth 10U softball last night at Lions park, 87 Diner picked up a forfeit against Citizen’s Community Bank.
    Meanwhile, in the nightcap, CARSTAR defeated Infinite Creations by a score of 17-16.
    Although the first game was considered a forfeit, they went ahead and played the game with CCB winning over 87 Diner by a score of 18-17.
    CCB, dropping to 2-10 on the season, led 87 Diner 6-5 after one and 12-11 after two. Meanwhile, after 87 Diner rallied back with six runs in the top-half of the third to go up 17-12, CCB came back and plated six runs in the bottom-half of the inning for the victory.
    Abbie Grizzle, Taylor Simmons, Kathryn Anderson and Daphne Saunders all took the mound for CCB, while Alisa Newbold and Jodie Bass pitched all three innings for 87 Diner.
    87 Diner also out-hit CCB 6-4, with Meredith Stumbaugh collecting two singles and Jodie Bass, Kennedy Walker, Alisa Newbold and Makiya West each with one single.
    For CCB, Bekah Taylor had two singles while Kathryn Anderson and Cayley Hollon added one single each.
    In the nightcap, CARSTAR and Infinite Creations played to a 5-5 tie after the first inning. Meanwhile, after IC plated five runs in the top-half of the second, CARSTAR came back and sent six runs across in the bottom-half of the inning to go up 12-10. But even that was short-lived as IC rallied back again with six runs in its half of the third only to have CARSTAR answer with six in the bottom-half of the inning for the victory.
    Krista Monnig picked up the win on the mound for CARSTAR, 5-7 on the season, while Natalie Rentel took the loss for IC, who dropped to 3-9 overall. Monnig pitched the first-two innings and gave up 10 runs on one hit and 12 walks while striking out two. Rentel, meanwhile, pitched one inning in relief of starter Abby Schupp and allowed six runs on eight walks.
    CARSTAR also out-hit IC 3-2, with Elizabeth Woolbright, Sarah Miller and Caitlin Jones adding one single each.
    For IC, Natalie Rentel homered while Tyra Perry singled.
