  • QuinlanAgency.com captured the championship outright last night in Cal Ripken Major by turning back Rick Ball Auto Mall by a score of 3-2.
Of course it was all made possible when Sell’s Carpet knocked off Infinite Creations in the first game by a score of 7-6.
Sell’s Carpet, who improved to 6-9-1 on the season, trailed Infinite Creations 1-0 after the second inning and 3-1 after 3 1/2 before rallying back with five runs in the fourth to go up 6-3. However, after a scoreless fifth, Infinite Creations sent three runs across in the top-half of the sixth to tie the game at 6-all.
Unfortunately for Infinite Creations, they had no answer after that as Sell’s Carpet scored what turned out to be the winning run in the bottom-half of the seventh on the walk-off RBI single by Kellen Barnes.
Barnes also picked up the win on the mound for Sell’s Carpet while Brady Rentel took the loss for Infinite Creations, who dropped to 10-6 overall. Barnes pitched a total of three innings and gave up no runs on one hit and six walks while striking out five. Rentel, meanwhile, pitched a total of 3 2/3 innings and allowed one run on three hits while striking out two.
Sell’s Carpet also finished the game with seven hits, with Jaylen Butner going 2-for-4 with a single, double and one RBI. Dylan Flatt also doubled and drove in two runs while Dakota Bishop, Klayton Anderson, Kellen Barnes and Anderson Twenter added one single each.
For Infinite Creations, Kellen Brownfield and Dayton Thoma each had a single and one RBI while Austin Kollmeyer added one single.
In the nightcap, QuinlanAgency.com and Rick Ball Auto Mall played to a scoreless tie for the first-four innings. Meanwhile, after holding Rick Ball Auto Mall scoreless in its half of the fifth, QA.com came back and plated one run in the bottom-half of the inning to go up 1-0.
But even that was short-lived as Rick Ball ?Auto Mall sent two runs across in the top-half of the sixth to make it 2-1.
However in this case the last at-bat proved to be the difference as QA.com rallied back with two runs in the bottom-half of the sixth on two walks, two hit batters and a throwing error for the victory.
Kurt Danner was the pitcher of record in the game for QA.com, 12-3 on the season, while Triston Hauptmann took the loss for Rick Ball Auto Mall, who dropped to 4-12 overall.
