Well known Fayette resident Theda Stidham passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012,at Boone Hospital in Columbia. She was 88 years of age.
The daughter of William Edward and Ada (Richards) Railton, Mrs Stidham was born in Boone County on February 9, 1924. She was a graduate of Harrisburg High School where she excelled at basketball. On August 2, 1947, she was united in marriage to Nelson Stidham in Columbia, MO. Mr. Stidham preceded her in death on March 6, 1999.
Theda and her twin sister, Zeda, owned and operated the Vogue Beauty Shop in Fayette for 36 years. Together they also established the Vogue Retirement Residence for assisted living. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Fayette.
Theda loved time spent with her family and greatly enjoyed watching Mizzou basketball and football games.
Mrs. Stidham is survived by two sons; Stan (Sarah) Stidham of Boonville and Greg (Shirley) Stidhamof Fayette. Also surviving are one brother, Bill Railton, of Sturgeon, eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Stidham, three sisters; ZedaWiehardt, Evelyn Duhn and Jean St. Clair and a great grandson, Owen Blumenthal.
Funeral services for Mrs. Theda Stidham will be held at 11 am.,on Friday, June 1, 2012 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette with Rev. Jamie Page officiating. Burial will follow at Harrisburg Cemetery with Andrew, Jamie, Shawn and Tyler Stidham, Scott Eaton and Ryan Draneserving as pallbearers. Visitation will be 10 am until the hour of service at the funeral home.
